Transdisciplinary Research
In the transdisciplinary approach, research is designed and organized as a joint learning process involving the project’s scientists and societal actors in Namibia. It transcends the boundaries separating disciplines and scientific fields as well as the boundaries between scientific and practical knowledge.
A prerequisite of this transdisciplinary work was that Namibian actors involved in the problem were also involved in the research process. Their views on the issue and their everyday, practical knowledge merged with scientific ways of posing problems. By means of this integration, the connectivity of the research results to both science and society is guaranteed.
