New in 2025
News from Dec 20, 2024
Extended opening hours: From 6 January 2025, the Earth Sciences Library will be open Mondays to Thursdays from 10 am to 6 pm, one hour longer than before. Friday opening hours will remain unchanged (10 am to 3 pm).
Nature portfolio journals: For the time being, publication fees for Nature and all Nature Research and Nature Reviews journals will not be covered from 1 January 2025. The University Library's publish-and-read contract expires at the end of 2024. A possible new contract is currently being evaluated, but a decision on this will not be made until early 2025. FU members can continue to read Nature portfolio journals in the first quarter of 2025, which is still covered by the current contract. However, the University Library will no longer pay publication fees for Nature Portfolio journals from 2025 for the time being. We will inform you as soon as the University Library has made a decision on how to proceed.
MDPI: The Institutional Open Access Programme between MDPI and Freie Universität Berlin will end on 14 January 2025, but Open Access publication costs will continue to be financed by the Open Access Publication Fund of Freie Universität Berlin, provided that all eligibility criteria are met. If this is the case, please fill out this web form (application for direct payment). In addition, please send the publisher's price offer to the editorial office of the University Library's document server (edocs@ub.fu-berlin.de) as soon as possible.
