On June 19, 2023, ATLAS-ENGAGE was invited to the 3rd meeting of the federal-state open working group on the integration of spontaneous volunteers in civil protection and disaster management. Theresa Zimmermann and Sara Merkes presented interim results from the ATLAS-ENGAGE research project under the heading "Perspectives on Spontaneous Volunteerism". They addressed trends with implications for engagement in civil protection and a typoology on forms of engagement in crises developed in the project. In addition, initial results from a survey of nearly 2,000 members from authorities and organizations with security tasks were discussed.
