On 1 February 2024, the DRU was represented again at the second edition of the high-level networking meeting at the German Federal Foreign Office. The aim of the „Exzellenz²“ series of events organised by the Berlin University Alliance and the German Federal Foreign Office is to promote a more intensive exchange between academics and foreign policy decision-makers. "As global crises intensify, occasional networking is no longer enough", say the organisers. Dr. Isabelle Desportes contributed to the discussions in the working group on the Humanitarian-Peace-Development Nexus and, based on her field research on disaster relief in conflict-affected settings, was able to share the experiences of local humanitarian organisations with regard to the 'Nexus', among other things.
