News from Jun 25, 2024

We took part in the "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften" (Long Night of Science) 2024 at FU Berlin! This Saturday, the 22nd of June, the Long Night of Science was held in Berlin. Over 60 institutions organized experiments, presentations, games, and shows to give visitors the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look. At FU Berlin alone, over 200 events took place.

Our working group developed an interactive game focused on carbon storage in South American forests. The idea was to show how scientists calculate CO2 storage capacities of forests using a carbon inventory. We presented two study sites, one in the Peruvian Amazonian region (humid tropical forest) and one in the Gran Chaco (dry tropical forest). The goal of the game was to show in an engaging way how to calculate carbon storage for different tree species. The fastest players earned a spot on our wall of fame!

We really enjoyed talking about our science and research with people of all ages. Thanks for stopping by, and we look forward to participating in the next edition!
