Cíntia is a PhD student from Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz, Brazil and has joined our team to complete part of her thesis in collaboration with the Modelling Human-Environmental Interactions Group. In her doctoral studies, she focuses on social and governance challenges in conservation strategies based on species distribution modeling in Brazilian biomes (Amazon Rainforest, Atlantic Forest, Cerrado, Caatinga, and Pantanal). This project aims not only to understand the distribution of aquatic species but also to explore how land use policies and conservation practices can be optimized to protect aquatic ecosystems and promote sustainability.
