Biodiversity and Conservation in the Dry Chaco Region
News from Jan 03, 2025
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Soledad Andrade Díaz, a researcher from the Modelling Human-Environmental Interactions Group has been awarded the Rufford Grant for her work on paleochannel grasslands in the Argentine Dry Chaco.
The project, supported by the Rufford Foundation, aims to explore this overlooked ecosystem, home to threatened biodiversity and crucial ecosystem services. Soledad's research will combine fieldwork, land use analysis, and community engagement through interviews with local stakeholders. The study's findings will guide conservation strategies that balance agricultural production with ecosystem preservation, addressing several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This grant will enable essential field observations and support the development of conservation priority networks, marking a significant step in protecting Argentina's subtropical drylands.
Congratulations to Sole on this achievement!
