My research is related to understanding the interactions between aquatic ecosystems and the impacts caused by different land use practices. My main area of research involves identifying how land use practices, such as grazing and agriculture, affect these environments, as well as developing conservation measures to mitigate these impacts.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Fisheries Engineering at the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB) in Brazil and obtained my master's degree in Tropical Aquatic Systems from the State University of Santa Cruz (UESC), also in Bahia. During my master's program, I evaluated the role of protected areas of the Atlantic Forest in the conservation of aquatic ecosystems, comparing them with grazing and agricultural areas. I used Odonata as bioindicators to assess environmental quality across these different land use types.
In my doctoral studies, my research is focused on social and governance challenges in conservation strategies based on species distribution modeling in Brazilian biomes (Amazon Rainforest, Atlantic Forest, Cerrado, Caatinga, and Pantanal). This project aims not only to understand the distribution of aquatic species but also to explore how land use policies and conservation practices can be optimized to protect aquatic ecosystems and promote sustainability.
