Time period: 2019 – 2021

Funding agency: DAAD – DST

Cooperation Partner: Vellore Institute of Technology, India

Description: India is a water-stressed nation, and the demand for water increases constantly. The potential for Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) to augment groundwater resources and riverbank filtration for public water supply is a much-needed method throughout the nation. The impact of riverbank filtration in peri-urban areas with agricultural activities on the groundwater quality is less investigated. The present study aims to assess the impact of bank filtration through MAR structures such as check dams on improving the groundwater resources.
