Services offered by the preparation laboratory (in german)
The preparation laboratory is located on the GEO campus in house T.
It is available to all staff and students of the Department of Geosciences by appointment.

Thin section production
- Preparation of petrographic and palaeontologic thin sections in the format 28 x 48 mm (up to the size 70-100 mm)
- Preparation of ultra thin sections
- thin sections made from loose sediments
- Microprobe sections ∅ 25 mm / 28 x 48 mm
Polishes
- Preparation of polished thin sections for the microprobe, SEM and EBSD with diamond polishing techniques and chemical-mechanical techniques
- polished hand rock samples for teaching lessons
- Preparation of both-sided thick sections for fluid inclusion analysis
- Micro preparation of single mineral particles (polished samples)
Staining methods
- Pore space staining with blue dye
- Etching and staining techniques of carbonate minerals
