Field work in Kenya 2013
In the framework of the project "Integrated Watershed Management Research and Development Capacity Building" two Masters students of Freie Universität Berlin did one months field work (10-11/2014) in a "living laboratory" in Kenya: theThiririka River sub-catchment. The sub-catchment is located 40 km north of Nairobi in the Central Province. The Master students worked on the topics of "Urbanisation and Water Demand" and "Soil Erosion Risk Assessment". Therefore the main part of the fieldwork consisted of
- mapping land-use types in the catchment,
- filling in over 250 questionnaires with local farmers,
- gathering data from different stakeholders,
- detail erosion mapping on four sites.
