EDCA
Interdisciplinary Center for
Ecosystem Dynamics in Central Asia (EDCA)
In Central Asia geological and meteorological processes collide, which influence environmental and climatic conditions of the whole northern hemisphere. As better understanding of the complex matter requires research from several academic branches, the Interdisciplinary Center for Ecosystem Dynamics in Central Asia (EDCA) was founded at the Freie Universität Berlin in June 2001.
In the EDCA community geographers, geologists, palaeontologists, biologists, climatologists, sinologists and others combine their efforts to investigate the evolution of different ecosystems. The reconstruction of environmental conditions will enable researchers to better comprehend climatic change. This information about the past will create a basis for future climate prediction.
