The NASA VERITAS mission will acquire radar and near infrared imaging data from Venus orbit with the objective of improving our understanding of its geologic history. The near infrared imaging instrument VEM (Venus Emissivity Mapper) on VERITAS will contribute to this objective by mapping the surface composition and searching for volcanic activity. I am managing the FU-Berlin hardware contribution to that instrument, consisting of the power system, and furthermore work on atmospheric radiative transfer modeling to correct the VEM data for the effects of the atmosphere.
