Research and IWM meeting South Africa 2013
In February and March 2013 a team of Freie Universität Berlin and Cape Town University implemented the project "Integrated Watershed Management Research and Capacity Building" in research area in South Africa and carried out field research. The research area in South Africa is the Krom Antonies catchment in Western Cape province.
During the first days meetings with the Department of Water Affairs and members of the Water Resource User Association of the Krom Antonies catchment were undertaken (see programme and pictures).Afterwards a stakeholder meeting was carried out in the Krom Antonies catchment to discuss about the project goals, the problems in the catchment and the research plans of the students.
Focus ot the research was on the one hand the geogenic and anthropogenic impact on the ground- and surface water of the catchment and on the other hand the vulnerability to poverty of South African farm worker households and the impact of migration (see).
