Im Rahmen des BMBF geförderten MiKlip-Projekts ('Mittelfristige Klimaprognosen') wurden ein Klimavorhersage- und ein Evaluierungssystem für die dekadische Zeitskala von ein bis zehn Jahren entwickelt, welche zum Projektende im Herbst 2019 zum operationellen Betrieb an den DWD unter dem Namen MAVIS übergeben wurden. Der DWD-Strategie und Nutzerbedarfen folgend wird eine analoge Evaluierung auch für saisonale und Monatsklimavorhersagen angestrebt. Das MAVIS-Evaluierungssystem für die Auswertung von operationellen dekadischen, saisonalen und Monatsklimavorhersagen anwendbar zu machen, ist Gewgenstand dieses gemeinsamen Forschungsprojekts von DWD und FU Berlin.


Within the framework of the BMBF funded MiKlip project ('Mittelfristige Klimaprognosen') a climate prediction and evaluation system for the decadal time scale of one to ten years was developed, which was handed over at the end of the project in autumn 2019 to the DWD for operational use under the name MAVIS. Following the DWD strategy and user requirements, an analogous evaluation is also planned for seasonal and monthly climate forecasts. To make the MAVIS evaluation system applicable for the evaluation of operational decadal, seasonal and monthly climate forecasts is the goal of this joint research project of DWD and FU Berlin.
