On November 29, 2024, the wonderful doctoral colloquium finally took place again at KFS! Pursuing a doctorate alongside project work, volunteering, or caregiving tasks is often an underestimated challenge—making it all the more impressive that there were once again great presentations, discussions, and, above all, a lot of progress! 

The following topics were presented:

  2. Nicolas Bock: "Civil Protection and Civil Defense in Germany—Institutional Developments and Path Dependencies from the Past to the Present" 

  3. Şermin Güven: "Between Droughts, Pollution, and Border Conflicts: Local Solutions and Humanitarian Challenges Along the Ceq-Ceq River" 

  4. Theresa Zimmermann: "Thinking Disaster Risks and Risk Reduction in the Urban as Multi-Scalar Configurations" 

  5. Leonie Reuter: "Knowledge, Power, and Inequality in the Context of Urban Climate Adaptation. A Dispositive Analysis Using the Example of Heat Protection in Berlin and Bordeaux" 

  6. Markus Wiedemann: "Between Plan and Chaos: Navigating the Phase Before the Disaster"
