A new paper from the Sedimentary Research Group is out in PNAS: " Miocene surface uplift and orogenic evolution of the southern Andean Plateau (central Puna), northwestern Argentina".

In the paper Dr. Alexander Rohrmann and colleagues, they show that the southern Andean Plateau rose rapidly from 2 to 4 km between 13 and 10 Mya, using stable isotope-based paleoelevation estimates from hydrated volcanic glass.
