International Week XXL

Mit freundlichen Grüßen Dr. Herbert Grieshop ------------------------------------------ Dear colleagues For the past nine years, International Week has been an integral part of the academic calendar at Freie Universität Berlin – and this very special year is no exception, as we celebrate the seventy-fifth anniversary of Freie Universität’s International Office, established just a few weeks after the university itself was founded. This year, we will be celebrating a supersized, XXL version of International Week that will run for the entire month of June . Key events include International Staff Training Week (June  10–14, 2024) with an expected 130 guests from all over the world, the Student Mobility Go-Out Day (June 19, 2024), and the annual meeting of our liaison offices (June 24–26, 2024). Further events on recent topics are currently in the works, but we would also like to invite you to organize your own events on the topic of internationalization throughout the month of June. We look forward to announcing an exciting array of informational events, workshops, and discussions – both on site and online. Based on our experiences over the last few years, we have a few helpful tips for making your event as appealing as possible. For example, you should clearly state the benefits of your event for the respective target group. Generally speaking, shorter events (under forty-five minutes) with specific and eye-catching titles are usually better attended than events with conventional or nondescript names. This year we will not be providing a central venue, so you are welcome to stage your activity wherever your target group is most likely to be. Concentrating so many events within the framework of International Week XXL gives us the opportunity to promote our entire spectrum of offers and programs in a targeted manner. Please bear in mind that you can significantly increase the number of participants by publicizing your events directly to your target group (in addition to our efforts to promote the week). While you’re here, we would also like to remind you of another event that you should note down in your calendar: the annual Campus Run and Summer Fest on June 27, 2024. If you want to register for the run as part of our international community, please enter “FU Global” as your team name when registering. Sophie Bahrs and Dulda Culha ( event@kum.fu-berlin.de ) are available to assist you with any questions you might have. Please let them know if and in what form your department would like to participate by March 30, 2024, at the latest. We are very much looking forward to working with you. Let's make International Week XXL 2024 the biggest, most inspiring one yet! Sincerely, Dr. Herbert Grieshop __________________________________ Dr. Herbert Grieshop Leiter | Head Abteilung Internationales | International Affairs Freie Universität Berlin – Kaiserswerther Str.16-18 – 14195 Berlin +49 30 838 73940, Herbert.Grieshop@fu-berlin.de
